Yale bevel gear set for the drivetrain of Yale lift trucks, the matched pair of drive gears that transmits torque through an angle. Cut with angled teeth so they mesh across intersecting shafts, the pinion and gear are lapped to run together and supplied as a set. They wear at the tooth faces and fail from fatigue, so the mated pair is replaced together to restore a quiet mesh.
A Yale bevel gear set is the matched pair of drive gears in the drivetrain of a Yale lift truck that transmits torque through an angle, typically turning the drive from the motor or driveshaft to the wheel axle. Bevel gears are cut with angled teeth so they mesh across intersecting shafts, and they are supplied and replaced as a matched set because the pinion and gear are lapped to run together.
A bevel gear set wears at the tooth faces and fails from fatigue under load. Worn or chipped teeth cause driveline noise, backlash, and rough drive, and because the two gears wear as a mated pair they are replaced together rather than singly to restore a correct, quiet mesh.
Forklifts Etc. carries it as the replacement bevel gear set for the Yale application.
